Ashish, Viral & Vikrant for Virtues presented a collection exhibiting the fine work of our craftsmen through creations with fabrics using kalamkaris.
The designers have constructively interpreted a line that is structured yet fluid in shape and silhouette. The beautiful interplay of colour, print and style detailings has concluded in a collection that is wearable and fresh.
Long and short jackets with curvilinear hemlines worn over softer printed fabrics, kaftan tops as well as dresses with contrasting godets, subtly embellished collars, metallic borders, fine quilting at the seams all these design features made their collection unique.
A lot of thought has gone into incorporating finer touches in multi technical ways to sleeves and hemlines to create drama and curiosity, which explains their eye for finer nuances.
The colour palette was an interesting mix of earth and spice colours like rusts, orange, maroons, ochres, greens along with indigo blues and blacks. They have retained the spirit of the original craft in colour and pattern and hence paid tribute to the craftsmen.
Fitted and flare silhouettes, full circular hems adding volume, fitted pants, pintucked churidars and narrow necklines for men and women is what was offered from Virtues.
They have tried to revive the mashroo fabric, a traditional handloom, to save it from extinction. The other fabrics used are silk gajji, chanderi, brocade, lycra, velvet, raw silks andsilk muslin.
