For Autumn/Winter 2008/09 the “mysteriously seductive diva will be dressed in vintage style”.
According to the title of the collection by Charu Parashar she showcased an expressive programme that had a rich fabric palette including soft velvets, ornate brocades, chanderis, precious Benarsi georgettes and light nets as well as the eco-friendly and breathable “Birlal Excel” as an answer to global warming.
Charu designed a range of one piece dresses and jacket pant coordinates which were kept simple in silhouettes yet had stylish details. Rich embroideries including stones and crystals drew attention to broad empire lines and hemlines.
The luxurious colour palette based on burgundy and ruby was skillfully completed through faded greens and lots of antique golden hues which could be seen in prints, dense sequins and thread work.
Lavishly printed fabrics took inspiration from antique tapestries. The archetypical ornamental motifs were adapted to complex patterns, decorative placement prints as well as planned appliqué.
The collection clearly demonstrated the designer's evident talent for decorative print design which resulted in an international luxury look created with Indian sensibility.
