The worlds of pop fashion and consumertech collided head-on as Mimoco, the Boston-based maker of MIMOBOT designer USB flash drives, announced their tokidoki for MIMOBOT collection.

Building on the company's goal of 'bringing style and soul to personal tech devices,' the series is Mimoco's first fashion-oriented release, and is a huge step towards transforming memory sticks into a new accessory for the fashion- forward.

"We've always felt that flash drives have the potential to allow individuals an entirely new way to display their personality, fashion sense, and creativity," says Dan Ruby, Mimoco's marketing and communications manager.

"After all, most people keep their very personal, very creative digital lives on USB flash drives, so why shouldn't their design reflect the creativity inside the memory stick and of the individual?"

Over the past several years, the tokidoki brand has grown from artist Simone Legno's personal portfolio into a trendsetting global brand, with products ranging from toys to jewelry to hard-to-find women's purses and bags.

The name comes from the Japanese word for 'sometimes,' and reflects Legno's love for Japanese pop culture and because, as his site points out, "everyone waits for moments that change one's destiny."

Indeed, it was, as Legno describes, "a very tokidoki email," that catapulted him from talented artist to international pop-fashion superstar.

Mimoco's MIMOBOT flash drives have been reshaping the world of consumer electronics for nearly three years, working with a wide range of pop-culture artists and licenses and proving to the world that flash drives don't have to be boring and utilitarian.
