Highly artistic Kollol shows creativity with cotton garments

Garment construction was stretched to the ultimate limits and the result was a collection of high creativity when Kallol Datta presented his label Kallol Datta 1955 for Autumn/Winter 2008 at the Lakme Fashion Week with a collection with the quirky title The Body Farm.

Working with cotton in two designs – cutlery and window pane, Kallol had women's wear that had touches of the eccentric Dali as he deconstructed the silhouettes to reveal an innovative look.

Draped sides for knee length dresses, interesting twisted sleeves for jackets, dislocated sleeves, giant dolman silhouettes and drop shoulder balloon sleeves, proved that Kallol had perfect control over his cutting techniques.

The colours were muted shades of grey, beige, brown, moss, with a single sari teamed with a silver lapel short jacket.

The 17 creations were carefully designed - each a piece that will appeal to the woman who wants to dress in clothes which are off the beaten track.

Tunics, tops, dresses teamed with churidars had some reflections of the theme that Kallol was inspired by and the end result was a line of exciting garments.

Shimmer appeared discreetly on hemlines or on collars without being too opulent thus leaving the focal point to the brilliant construction.

For Kallol Datta, The Body Farm was definitely a very futuristic range that will give the fashion conscious an unusual collection to choose from for the coming season.
