Young designers to arrive in Bradford for SDC Global Design Competition

Young designers from around the world will soon start arriving in Bradford for the grand final of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) global design competition. Aimed at encouraging the creative and inspired use of colour in fashion and textile design, the competition – the first ever SDC international student design competition of its kind – has been run in conjunction with SDC regions/affiliates around the globe.

Working to a universal brief, each region was responsible for organising, judging and sponsoring the local heats and the finalists have all now been selected. The seven finalists from the overseas regions/affiliates and the six finalists from the UK SDC regions are:

• Australia: Ms Erin Grant, St George TAFE School of Fashion, Sydney
• Hong Kong: Ms Yau Yim-Fun (Natalie), Hong Kong Polytechnic University
• India: Ms Neha Aneja, Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi
• South Africa: Ms Chantelle Bekker, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria
• Pakistan: Ms Sana Sami, Faisalabad Institute of Textile And Fashion Design
• Sri Lanka: Mr R P E Bandara, University of Moratuwa
• USA: Ms Casey Bianco, Virginia Commonwealth University
• London: Ms Danielle Lewis, Colchester School of Art and Design
• Midlands: Ms Emily Scholes, Nottingham Trent University
• N England: Ms Laura Reid, University of Huddersfield
• N Ireland: Ms Lyndsey Bell, University of Ulster
• Scotland: Ms Lynsey Henderson, Edinburgh College of Art
• WESW: Ms Anna Wilkinson, Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton)
