Nikasha enriches ethnic saris with international touch

Nikasha Tawadey took the audience on a fashionable Bioscope Adventure for Autumn/Winter 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week. Bringing together the beauty of craft and traditions of India, Nikasha merged the exciting kitschy highlights with modern trends and the result was a rainbow of colours and silhouettes.
She brought together the leheriya; hand block sanganer prints embroidery, rouching, and beading and splashed it on to brocades and mulmul in vibrant colours of India that ranged from mint, tomato, tobacco and pink.
Her embellishments were subtle at times hidden in the lining of garments with mirror work, Sari and sequins adding to the glitter.
The silhouettes were as colourful as dhoti pants, lehengas, tunics, Nehru jackets and saris were aptly accessorized by bead and button necklaces, batwas and rustic jewellery.
Recreating the kaleidoscopic beauty of the bioscope, Nikasha had eye catching creations like rust drop waist lean chiffon kurtas, contrast pleated tunics and lehengas that were in prints and solid vibrant colours and the multi print ghagras teamed with tasseled net khaki dupatta and ornate cholis were ideal for the festive season.
Natasha's saris were a riot of colour and print – very vibrant, rustic and glittering with sequins, tilli work and detailed with rouching, embellished bands and worn with striking blouses.
Mixing fabric textures Nikasha Tawadey gave an international fusion touch to ethnic wear making her collection truly appealing to global fashionistas.
