Deckers bags Outside's Best Places to Work award

Santa Barbara based Deckers Outdoor Corporation, owner of global footwear brands Teva, Simple Shoes, and UGG Australia, was named one of Outside's Best Places to Work 2008. This first time program was created by Outside magazine in partnership with the Outdoor Industry Association and Best Companies Group.
This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the country that not only create a great work environment but also promote an environmentally friendly business process and create a work-outdoor life balance for employees.
The list is made up of 30 companies split into three categories: 10 small-sized companies (15-49 employees), 10 medium-sized companies (50-249 employees) and 10 large-sized companies (250 and more employees). Deckers Outdoor Corporation has been ranked number seven in the large category of Outside's Best Places to Work 2008.
"It is truly an honor to be named one of Outside Magazine's Best Places to work for 2008," says Angel Martinez, President and CEO of Deckers Outdoor Corporation. "We are especially proud that our employees' own surveys were the determining factor in winning this award. It is their commitment to each other which has driven our success so far and made Deckers such a desirable place to work."
Companies from across the nation entered the two-part process to determine Outside's Best Places to Work. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience.
