Taj swanks charm of Banarasi sari to welcome spring

Taj Hotels has always engaged with the communities with which it co-exists. To bring across paradigms of luxury that satiate every touch point of its guest, Taj Hotels has taken upon itself to salute that master weaver and celebrate their contribution.
Taj has been consistently championing the cause of promoting rural arts and artisans. In continuation of this endeavor and as a part if its initiatives of providing sustainable livelihoods, it has extended support to the master weavers of Banaras. Taj believes that luxury, much like tradition, needs to be preserved and nurtured. And with an aim to revive the handloom industry from extinction, Taj Hotels has drafted an idea to use handloom sarees for uniforms across 10 Taj luxury properties. Taj Hotels will welcome its guests, in these fine hand-woven sarees.
Taj has identified 3 villages and started work with 25 master-weavers residing in these villages. It is notable that when Taj first went to the village, all they were asked for was some work and not money. But, before the work could have begun it was very essential to make the environs humane and hence Taj Hotels first supplied them with water pumps and solar lights. The aim was to instill confidence in the villagers, give them work and return their dignity and pride in work.
