Macy's to join Bloomingdale's & Nordstrom at CityCenter

Related Companies and Thomas J. Klutznick Company announced plans for a Macy's store to open at CityCenter of CityNorth, the 76-acre mixed-use portion of the 144-acre CityNorth development in Northeast Phoenix. Macy's will join Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom as the retail cornerstones of CityCenter of CityNorth's Phase Two, The Boulevard, opening in fall 2010.
"I am so pleased that Macy's is joining a stellar list of CityNorth merchants, that already includes Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom," said Mayor Phil Gordon. "I am equally happy that Phoenix will benefit from new jobs, an increased tax base and the overall economic growth this project will bring."
“With Macy's as a cornerstone of this rising city, the streets of CityCenter of CityNorth will be home to the three leading department store brands in the country,” said Kenneth A. Himmel, President and CEO of Related Urban and co-developer of the first two phases (Phase One opens in October of this year and Phase Two in the fall of 2010) which will embody the urban core of the project.
“Our retail portfolio is alive and well, and we are excited to leverage Related's historic expertise of hand crafting mixed-use properties that instantly become iconic destinations in their respective markets.”
Phase One of CityCenter of CityNorth, High Street, is currently under construction and slated to open in October of this year. High Street's retail space is currently 85 percent committed.
“Phoenix represents a very important opportunity for us,” said Jeff Gennette, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy's West, the division responsible for the Arizona market. “The fashion and affordable luxury that Macy's delivers is important to our customers in Arizona, and this new location will provide additional convenience and access for local shoppers.”
