The 18th International Exhibition on Shoes and Leather Industry, which kicked off on May 28, concluded on a successful note on May 31. This event, hosted by Guangzhou city, is famed to be the biggest shoes fair in Asia.
Reportedly, over 900 footwear enterprises from 35 countries and regions participated here, covering an area of 60000 square meters, which is 20 percent more than that of 2007 event.
Analysts informed that China recently surpassed the US to become the top consumer of shoes. According to official statistics, now China procures about 2.3 billion pairs of shoes each year, whereas, the US barely touches the 2.2 billion pairs mark.
It has been noted that in recent months export of China's shoes to the US and EU has gradually slowed down. However, many other countries have expressed keen interest in Chinese footwear industry.
Thus, this eminent International Shoes and Leather Expo attracted niche enterprises from places like Brazil, Bangladesh, Germany, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and so on.
Experts believe that next year the Fair will only get bigger and organizers will have to extend the booth areas.
