Ceará Fashion sees an increase in business activity

The second edition of Ceará Underwear Fashion was held June 1-3 in Fortaleza.

Held by the Ceará Underwear Fashion Association (AMIC), the event received the support of ABIT, through Texbrasil, a program developed in partnership with Apex-Brasil.

This time, ABIT brought international buyers and journalists to Underwear Fashion, the only segment in the north and northeast of Brazil.

This edition gathered forty-seven exhibiters, including raw material suppliers and apparel manufacturers.

Of these, 12 put on fashion shows: Paty, Vilingerie, D'July, Linhas e Cores, Thays Ferreira, D'Noite, Dimodas and Sensuality, as well as Fina Paixão, Robia, Ritati and Rihomo.

Cláudio Silveira, the idealizer of Dragão Fashion Brasil, signed the event's artistic direction.

In 2007, Ceará Underwear Fashion stimulated business of about R$ 5 million for the sector, according to the organization.

“Last year we had nearly two thousand people per day. This time, on the first day of the fair alone, we already saw three thousand people.

We should also see an increase in business activity,” celebrates José Sabino (photo), president of AMIC. “For the next edition, the number of exhibiters should grow. But we still intend to continue only showing brands from Ceará,” says Sabino.

AMIC estimates that Ceará has nearly two thousand formal and informal underwear apparel industries, generating about 80 thousand jobs. Ceará produces around 500 million pieces per year.
