The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) and The Latino Fashion Group (LFG) share a passion for the beauty industry and a desire to raise awareness, visibility and understanding for the Latino community and Latino beauty professionals.

Sponsored by Wella American Classics, PBA and LFG introduce the 2008 Emerging Latina Collection, celebrating up-and-coming Latina and her mark on the fashion scene.

The hair and fashion of the Collection features vibrant colors, light fabrics, embellished accessories and a design style that flatters the shape of the body and all of its natural curvature.

Carlos Valenzuela, founder of LFG states, "Our purpose is to showcase our diversity via editorial work, images and communications, plus motivate aspiring professionals and consumers alike by providing viable options for Latino woman."

After winning an essay contest, four cosmetology students from the Kohler Academy in Scottsdale, AZ participated in the annual PBA and LFG photo shoot this May with world-renowned Latino artists:

Will Harries - After ten years in the beauty industry as a master colorist, stylist and salon educator on the Wella American Classic Design Team, Harries is equally at home in the salon, in the classroom or on stage.

Paul Vega - Wella Color Charm Artistic Director, Vega teaches easy, profitable and enjoyable techniques to stylists throughout North America in fluent English and Spanish. His work also appears in numerous trade publications.

Leo Rocco - A native of Argentina and owner of Rocco Donna Salon in South Beach, FL, Rocco's clientele includes well-known celebrities. He is also a frequent guest on Telemundo/NBC's national morning program, De Mañanita.

Allen Ruiz - The winner of the NAHA 2007 Hairstylist of the Year award, fashion front man Ruiz has styled with some of the top names in the biz and worked as a stylist at NYC Fashion Week shows.

Some of the most familiar and influential names in fashion and hair are Latino. This LFG and PBA photo shoot team is just an introduction to the many other artists shaping the beauty industry.

All of the models in the Collection are Latino and epitomize the emerging Latina in 2008. Gorgeous, fashion-conscious young women, they all find a balance between work, school and fun with time set aside for evenings with friends and family.

Latino women, like most women, have curves. Latino fashion designers accept that curves are what make a woman beautiful and design their work to accentuate the body instead of hide it.

This attitude may be why so many young, stylish women are attracted to their sexy, exciting designs. There is no denying their appeal and the bright, flattering fashions and clean, vibrant hairstyles of the 2008 Emerging Latina Collection complete this picture.

The Collection takes contemporary Latino fashion and merges it with hair rich in color and cut to flatter the face, and body, of any woman.
