The Triangle shopping centre one of Manchester's most stylish shopping outlets, in association with MFN is searching the North West to find the most innovative young fashion designer of the year in its annual 'North West Young Designer of the Year 2008' competition.

Aged 17-25, entrants must want to embrace the opportunity to showcase their very own collection in the city's most innovative designer store, Unique Boutique, for three months – the fabulous prize on offer to Manchester's most fashion focused designers.

Following last year's massive success, which saw North West fashion student, Liam Evens go on to have his collection sold in store, Triangle Shopping Centre is getting set to host the fashion event of the year once again and is asking budding designers to send in their most creative designs in the hope of winning this exclusive, once in a lifetime prize and certainly a great foot on the ladder.

Those who think they have what it takes to showcase themselves amongst the current crop of innovative designers are being asked to send in drawings of their personally designed collection. The illustrations should be accompanied by 300 words stating why they feel that their collection shows that they have the cutting edge to make it into Unique Boutique for real. The deadline for all entries is Friday 15 August 2008.

The competition will be judged by an expert panel from all facets of the fashion industry including renowned fashion designer and retailer, Vicky Martin; owner of Unique Boutique, Maria McGreevy, Helen Tither from Manchester Evening News Style and other influential industry figures within the North West fashion forum and beyond.

The five finest designs will be selected based on style, individuality and quality and their respective designers will be invited to the Grand Final Fashion Show to be held at Triangle on 18 September 2008, where their collections will be modelled by top models including Charlotte Denton from Liverpool and Louise Heywood from Rochdale from the hit TV show, Britain's Next Top Model.

Spokesperson for Triangle, Michelle Atack comments: “We established last year that the North West is full of young designer talent and we can't wait to start the search again for 2008's most aspiring Young Designer.

“The North West's Young Designer Of The Year competition aims to discover emerging talent and offer them a platform to launch their careers and Unique Boutique at Triangle is absolutely perfect for achieving this.”

Maria McGreevey, MD of Unique Boutique, comments: “Unique Boutique stock an eclectic range of pieces from up and coming independent designers so it is an ideal platform for the winner of North West Young Designer of the Year 2008. We are really happy to be involved again this year and are excited about the prospect of something exceptionally fresh and innovative entering our store.”
