In order to promote the domestic fashion industry that is still at an initial stage, the experts from this field had recently gathered in Ho Chi Minh City. A seminar was held for finding out ways by which the sector can come at par with global standards.

The conference was conducted by Association of Garments, Textiles, Embroidery and Knitting (AGTEK). This was the first ever meeting organized for helping domestic companies improve their product quality, which in turn will take their business on a higher level.

According to the experts, high quality fabrics, innovative designs with lot of detailing will help the domestic brand make their place in international market. One of the reasons for slow development of fashion sector is lack of designers in the country. It is believed that, merely 30 percent of locally made clothes are designed by Vietnamese designers, while rest is copied from international couturiers.

Although there are few designers who have gained recognition for their work from international professionals, who alone can not take the industry forward. Constant experimentation with fabrics, textures, colours and prints needs to be done to reach international centers that house elite garments.

Many apparel companies like Viet Tien Garment Company and Vera International Corporation have now joined forces, to make the distribution network more effective and establish brand recognition through chain of retail shops.
