On Wednesday, July 9th from 7:00-10:00 p.m, Manhattan's latest upscale hair and beauty venue, Piu' Tono, will open its classy new digs at 71st Street and Second Avenue to the public, media, and anyone else who wants their hair and personal look updated from "just OK" to super-chic.
The genius behind the concept is the immensely talented Maria Teresa Sansalone, a five-time Gold Medalist in Italy's national style competitions who spent ten years working in Rome and Florence beside one of Italy's hair and fashion allstars, Roberto D'Antonio.
The Grand Opening, sponsored by Cipriani, Daniela del Cima, Ferrarelle, and others, will feature the Bill Saxton Jazz Band, jewelry stylists, fashion designers and an A-list of celebrities and will be followed by an after-party at Per Lei Ristorante.
Maria Teresa's energetic spirit and custom styling for individual clients has dazzled even the most jaded New Yorkers.
To accommodate her busy clientele and add a dash of nightlife to the upper East Side, her salon will be open Thursday nights until midnight where clients and guests can find not only a new look but also music, appetizers and cocktails.
Maria Teresa's star-studded clientele includes Brooke Shields, whose hair she styled for the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding in 2007; clothing designer Jill Stuart, and many international personalities.
Her cuts, color and hair designs were featured at the Rome Haute Couture and Milan Fashion Weeks, in fashion magazine editorials, and in fashion shows featuring Valentino, Gattinoni, Rocco Barrocco, and Lancetti.
New York has just started to see Maria Teresa in action. Her hair and fashion styling were showcased by celebrities at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
Now she and her partner, the accomplished hair stylist Riza Sklover and five carefully chosen additional stylists, will offer a full range of services at Piu' Tono from 10-8 Monday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10:00 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, and 10-6 on Sunday.
