Nate Berkus to join Basil & Out Magazine in honoring fresh designers

Basil Hayden Bourbon and Out magazine invite aspiring designers and artists to showcase their style in the 2008 Basil Hayden Design Chicago search.

Celebrating Basil Hayden's sophisticated, fashion-forward image, the design competition challenges creatives to bring the spirit's rich flavor and stylish packaging to life in four unique categories: artwork, fashion, furniture and interior design elements.

Celebrity designer Nate Berkus will select the top three entries to each be unveiled at their own VIP party, with the grand prize winner receiving $10,000.

The contest calls for entrants aged 21 and over to create original concepts in one of four categories: artwork, fashion, furniture or interior design elements such as lighting, curtains or room accents.

Designers responsible for the top three entries chosen by Berkus will each receive $2,500 to turn their concept into a reality at a stylish VIP event in their honor. The winner will be announced at an elite cocktail party hosted by Berkus in Chicago.

Since July 3, design concepts and original essays describing how the design is inspired by Basil Hayden have been accepted by mail or online.

All entries must be received by 11:59 P.M. EDT on August 15, 2008. No purchase necessary. Limit one entry per designer. Must be a legal resident of Illinois, Ohio or Wisconsin and 21 years of age or over.
