Baltika's sales on major markets surge

Baltika's retail sales generated in July grew by 11 per cent in comparison to the previous year. Major markets – Poland, Ukraine and Russia – demonstrated solid results as sales growth there reached up to 52 per cent (in Poland). The consolidated sales revenue earned by the enterprise amounted to 96.5 million kroons and the year-on-year growth was 8 per cent.

In addition to solid sales in Poland, Baltika also had a successful month of July on the Eastern European markets where sales growth reached 23 per cent in Russia and 17 per cent in Ukraine. Despite cooling of the economy in the Baltic States, results were good on the Lithuanian and Latvian markets as well (growing by 6 per cent and by 1 per cent respectively), in Estonia the sales figures remained almost on the same level as last year.

Growth in sales in comparable stores was 7 per cent in July and here the growth was also fuelled by Central and Eastern European markets.

Meelis Milder stated, when commenting the sales results in July, that major investments made in the past few years play a crucial role at the moment on the Eastern European markets. “These are practically the only markets in Europe where economy and consumption are growing in an accelerating pace,” said Milder.

In terms of seven months, the group's sales revenue amounted to 647 million kroons, growing by 3 per cent in comparison to the same period of time last year; retail sales grew by 10 per cent.

At the end of July, Baltika Group had a total of 125 stores with the total sales area of 24 461 square metres.
