The Collections at WSA lights up the luxury market in Las Vegas

The Collections at WSA, the premier destination for luxury footwear, handbags and accessories, once again played host to a successful show held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Displayed in the property's exclusive suites, the event presented buyers, retailers and stylists with an overall look at the luxury marketplace, featuring a mixture of high-end designers and exhibitors in one convenient location. In addition to footwear designers and brands, The Collections at WSA featured more handbag and jewelry designers than ever, and welcomed many new exhibitors to the show.
“The Collections at WSA has truly solidified itself as a go-to destination for exciting designer brands,” said Leslie Gallin, director, The Collections at WSA. “Despite the economic downturn, the high-end market is robust and the positioning of the show continues to evolve in its incredible assortment of offerings and remains the number one showcase of trends, up-and-coming designers, and top buying power in the market.”
The Collections at WSA welcomed key designers including Behnaz Kanani, Hayden Harnett, Weitzman, Donald J Pliner, Delman, Jenny Bird, Rafe New York, Calvin Klein Women's Collection, among many others.
“This was the first time we debuted our collection in the U.S., and it was great exposure for us,” stated Behnaz Kanani, Behnaz Kanani. “We love the comfortable but luxurious feeling of the show. It's a great atmosphere and a warm environment.”
With more than 350 high-end designer women's and men's footwear, handbag, and jewelry brands displayed, The Collections at WSA also welcomed industry notables on the design side, including Barbara Bui, Christian LaCroix, Botkier, Rafe New York, Sylvia Toledano, Theory, Histoires de Parfums and Loeffler Randall.
“We had a great response from buyers while at The Collections,” stated Staci Leatherland, Hayden-Harnett. “This show was an amazing opportunity for our business.”
At the July event, The Collections at WSA launched C7, a new dedicated setting for retailers to discover modern edgy styles in the athleisure lifestyle arena. Brands that were on display included Auri, Piloti, DETNY by Shane & Shawn, Fly London, Hudson, J Shoes, Monderer for Jump, PF Flyers, Ryan Rowe and True Religion, which all debuted new Euro-inspired styles for the upcoming season.
Surrounded by other key industry events, The Collections at WSA hosted the fourth semi-annual “Glass Slipper” Awards. The event, which was hosted at the Venetian Hotel's V Bar, recognized the originality, time and imagination exhibitors put into creating their booths.
The July 2008 Glass Slipper Award honorees were:
• Best New Exhibitor Suite- Laugoa
- Runner up – Phyllis Morgan
• Most Innovative Use of Space- Jessica Jensen and Jenny Bird
- Runner up–La Chica Chic
• Creative Use of Exhibit Suite Space– SZ Collection
- Runner up – Jessica Bennett
• SpecialtyAward: Miss Congeniality- Salpy Kalaidjian from Salpy
