Kathryn Kerrigan Footwear to present F/W collection in Sept, Oct

In an effort to create beautiful, elegant shoes for women with larger feet, Kathryn Kerrigan has launched Kathryn Kerrigan Brand Footwear, a new shoe design and distribution business. Kerrigan who stands 6 feet tall, is an avid athlete and wears a size 11 shoe. She is changing the footwear landscape for women who wear sizes Euro 36 – 46 (US 6 - 14) by designing fashionable, elegant styles that were previously unavailable.
“Try walking into any designer shoe store and finding a beautiful, luxurious shoe in a size 12. It's embarrassing and it should not be,” Kerrigan said. Online shopping is available at website.
In just two years Kerrigan landed a contract with Endless.com and, not surprisingly, Inc. magazine named Kathryn the No 1 female entrepreneur under the age of 30. Her love for fashion and her business success have also led her to become an adjunct faculty of Entrepreneurship at Loyola University of Chicago, Chicago, IL.
After years of playing women's basketball and struggling to find a fashionable shoe to match her 6-foot frame, Kathryn decided to take the footwear industry to new lengths. She adds that “Most of my girlfriends from college basketball are 6' or taller. We were able to wear our basketball shoes or flip flops while on the road. We are now part of a new generation of very tall women who want to look, and feel, elegant – “Women in Charge”. We now are businesswomen, trendsetters and mothers. When we go out, we want elegant, flirty designer shoes in sizes 11, 12 and 13.”
Not only are American women more athletic, they are taller, and their feet are keeping pace. Accordingly, bigger sizes sell out faster than they did 25 years ago, says the National Shoe Retailers Association. Most shoe retailers and designers have not kept pace with the demand for elegant shoes in larger sizes. By simply stocking more large sizes, retailers could boost their annual revenue and embrace an emerging market. Kathryn Kerrigan shoes focus on high quality, large size women's shoes. “We like to say our shoes are for women who want to stand tall in a crowd,” joked Kerrigan.
Kathryn will be presenting her Fall/Winter '08-09 collection at various trunk shows throughout the country in September & October, 2008. For sale will be new and exciting ballet flats, fantastic leather and suede booties, as well as pumps and tall riding boots. In the production process, every pair of Kathryn Kerrigan shoes transfers between 60 different European craftsman.
