Sales in the Group's divisions:
The Douglas Perfumeries posted 8.5 percent higher sales during the first nine months of 2007/08 for a total of more than 1.4 billion EUR, enabling them to further expand their market-leading position in Europe. Sales at the 442 Douglas perfumeries in Germany were up 3.2 percent at 707.8 million EUR. The 678 Douglas perfumeries outside of Germany performed above-par with sales climbing by 14.5 percent to 709.1 million EUR.

Thus, the foreign stores have surpassed the German sales for the first time in company history. The high number of new openings during the 2007/08 fiscal year and acquisitions in the Baltic States last August contributed to this development. The highest sales gains were reported by the perfumeries in Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Russia. Moreover, Douglas acquired a majority shareholding in the company Parfumerie Douglas Bulgaria ood, Sofia, at the beginning of April, thus strengthening its presence in Eastern Europe.

The Books division succeeded in boosting sales by 12.4 percent to 575.3 million EUR at its 285 bookstores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Sales at the Group's 231 bookstores in Germany were 12.8 percent higher at 441.9 million EUR, which was attributable to the acquisition of 44 Buch&Kunst bookstores, effective January 1, 2007; and the sales from which were only included on a pro rata basis in the prior year's comparative period. Sales from the 54 Thalia bookstores in Austria and Switzerland rose by 10.9 percent to 133.4 million EUR.

In the Jewelry division, focus on the "Christ" brand has had a positive impact with sales turnover at the 198 Christ stores up 8.5 percent and amounting to 224.8 million EUR.

In the Fashion division, the 15 women's apparel stores operated by Appelrath-Cüpper experienced a decline in sales by 7.4 percent with sales at 113.5 million EUR due to the adverse conditions on the market. In the Confectionery division, the 284 Hussel shops in Germany and Austria posted higher sales by 1.9 percent amounting to 82.1 million EUR for the nine-month reporting period.
