Footwear export price of Guangdong rises in H1

According to Guangzhou Customs statistics, the average export price of Guangdong Province shoes to various global markets was nearly US $3 per pair in the first half of 2008, showcasing a year-on-year increase of 29.6 percent.

However, under double clutch of substantial increase in production costs and market downturn, some low-priced enterprises have been eliminated from the competition. As a result, overall average price has increased because low-priced shoes are not counted.

In the first half of 2008, the number of footwear enterprises in Guangdong that mainly concentrated on exports, fell to almost 3924 from around 5811 of last year, due to various reasons.

According to Asia Footwear Association, major international brands like Nike and Adidas mainly place orders to factories which function with the investments made by Taiwan enterprises in the mainland.

At present, Taiwan enterprises are well equipped in both technology and production skills, so their exports are not subject to much impact in comparison to other local enterprises.

Footwear units run by Taiwan have strong anti-risk capacity, in addition to the advantages of complete production system. They even have huge market in the mainland.

Experts believe that, although manufacturing costs rise sharply in the mainland, major buyers in Europe and America are still placing large orders in China rather than transferring them to other Southeast Asian nations.

Over the years Chinese footwear industry has build a strong position in world market in comparison to any other footwear industry in Asia in terms of production, technology and quality. Thus, the Chinese entrepreneurs are sure about the future of this sector.
