The 186 new sales points added in FY2008 in the PRC included 96 Walker Shop, 56 Couber.G, 11 Artemis, 10 ACUPUNCTURE, 12 OXOX and 1 Walker One.

The expanded network boosted the Group's own brand business by 33% to HK$812 million, accounting for 87.3% of its total turnover. Sales of authorized brands and other brand business rose by 50% to HK$118 million, representing 12.7% of the total turnover.

Sales from the Group's authorized brand ACUPUNCTURE also saw significant growth during the year under review. The Group added 14 shops for the brand, which brought the total number of ACUPUNCTURE sales points to 22.

The brand has enjoyed wide market acceptance and demonstrated strong potential in helping the Group broaden its customer base and revenue sources.

During the year, the Group commenced cooperation with a business partner in Japan to sell ACUPUNCTURE products to Japanese customers.

Riding on the partner's well-established distribution network, the Group expects the brand to strengthen its foothold in the market craving for trendy and fashionable products. ACUPUNTURE brand sales for the year jumped 78.0% to HK$85 million, accounting for 9.1% of the Group's total turnover.

The Group plans to continue to capture the vast opportunities in the PRC and Hong Kong retail markets bolstered by the flourishing economies and enlarge its shares in the two footwear markets.

For the coming year, it targets to add approximately 250 new self-managed sales points in total in the PRC and Hong Kong, and approximately 100 new franchised sales points in the PRC.

In addition to higher-tier cities, the Group will also expand its distribution network aggressively to cover more lower-tier cities with growth opportunities in the PRC.

The Group also expects ACUPUNCTURE to continue to gain popularity among consumers. It intends to set up about 30 ACUPUNCTURE stores in the PRC and two in Hong Kong in the coming year. To broaden its revenue sources, the Group will continue to develop its own brands.

The new OXOX sportswear collection that was launched to capture growing demand for sportswear in the advent of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has been gaining reputation and is ready to generate returns to the Group.

As part of the marketing and promotional efforts of the Group to strengthen consumer awareness of its brands, the Group appointed famous mainland actress Miss Zhang Yu Yee as the first Walker Shop spokesperson and the local girl singer group Hotcha to represent OXOX.

The Group will continue to step up marketing efforts to maximize exposure of its various brands. With consumers becoming more demanding on product quality in terms of design and functionality among others, the Group plans to invest more resources in product design and development for products of its own and authorized brands.

The Group will also upgrade its management information systems in the PRC by March 2010 to enable real time control on inventory and points-of-sale, thus enhance operational efficiency and minimize working capital requirements.

Ms. Chan, concluded, “We are known for our commitment to innovation and ability to understand and meet the needs of our customers.

Armed with these strengths and passion and presented with a growth market, we will strive to offer products that suit customers' needs and thereby deliver optimum returns to shareholders.”
