JD Institute of Fashion Technology once again introduced the young talent to the industry with their Annual Design award show-08 at the Sirifort Auditorium. With all the emphasis on the Younger Designers' and a new Design Council in the making, this show was a further step in the betterment of Indian Fashion Industry. The International Models from Paris, Australia, Poland, Argentina and, India sashayed down the ramp, presenting the collection of the Graduating and the 4th Semester Student Designers'.

Present on the occasion were the renowned Fashion Designer Hemant Sagar, Eminent Parliamentarian Jaya Jetiley and Creative Head of 'W' Ms Vandana Gupta and well known Interior Designer Ms Sangeet Gandhi as the Guest of Honor.

Speaking on the occasion The President Chandraakant Dalal said, "Its been 20years and, we feel proud for the designers like Rocky S, Shane & Falguni, Urvashi Kaur, to name a few who, have been a benchmark in Fashion Industry. Their association as a student with JD is an example of the quality the institute believes in."

The Guest of Honor Hemant Sagar was mesmerized and said, "It feels great to see that immense talent is booming in this country. I like the kind of freedom these students' get to show their creativity. Once you enter the industry, there are constraints everywhere. It's great to see them enjoying their work. I wish them all a bright future ahead."

Speaking on the Occasion the Executive Director Mr R C Dalal said, "To inspire you and get things in context, history has it that jediiians who have the Annual Design Awards have always gone on to be highly successful in their professional careers. This is the same platform that gave the designers like Rocky S (winner of 89), Shane Peacock (winner of 92), Reza Sharifi( winner of 90), Gaurav 'om' Chabbra (winner of 96) ,Urvashi Kaur (winner of 97) and so on...."

Ms Jaya Jetiley was happy to see such a beautiful collection that had the practical approach to make it commercially viable. She said, "The rigorous training from Institute like JD proves the worth and the level of dedication they have. I wish the students to take active interest in the annual projects done for the artisans and the Craftsman of our country."

To initiate the industry bond, representatives from brands like Ms Geetanjali from Levi, Merchandiser's from Pepe, Raymonds, Allen Solly were present to applaud the budding Jediiians.

Models:
The show saw the presence of professional international models that have been the face of Levi, Pepe, Marie Claire, to quote a few.

Karima from Australia and Jestine from Poland were the leading models for the show that showcased the promotional outfit of the designer students.

Award Ceremony:
The Event concluded with the Award Ceremony of the participant groups from all the centres of Delhi, and Lucknow.

The winner groups were Hood Hoppers for stylized creations, Extravaganza Defined for experimentation, Carnival for hi end garments, Six Yards of Makhan Chor for amazing Sarees, Life for vibrant color combination, Versitality in Vogue for practicality and Peripheral Trends for fun and punk respectively.
