Michael Stars and Signature Eyewear Inc announced the signing of a three-year license agreement to launch Michael Stars eyewear. The agreement gives Signature Eyewear the exclusive right to distribute the brand's optical and sun styles worldwide. The collection will preview at Vision Expo West October 3 to 5, 2008, and will be available in better retailers across the country, January 2009.

"At Michael Stars we're continuously inspired by the beachside lifestyle and it only makes sense to introduce sunglasses and optical eyewear to our fashion line. It is with great pleasure that we enter this venture with Signature Eyewear Inc, another established California grown company. Signature is our first licensee as we begin to transform our T-shirt empire into a lifestyle brand. Michael Stars is about color, comfort, and style and we're confident that our eyewear collection will reflect our brand," noted Michael Cohen, Founder of Michael Stars.

Michael Stars produces 200 styles of T-shirts available in 30 colors per season, as well as Maternitee, Cashmere and Dress collections, and most recently Active Wear for women and Mikey Stars for babies. The brand can be found at high-end retailers such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, as well as Michael Stars stores, michaelstars.com, and specialty boutiques worldwide.

"Michael Stars is a LA-based lifestyle brand that understands the need for every woman to find the perfect T. The innovative designs and colors will allow our designers the opportunity to create a fast turning seasonal product that we believe will fuse fashion and eyewear as one," noted Michael Prince, CEO of Signature Eyewear.

"Michael Stars is responsible for taking the humble T-shirt and creating 'casual couture.' We hope to create an eyewear collection that complements Michael Stars loyal consumers' lifestyle," added Jill Gardner, Signature's Senior VP of Design. "Michael Stars designs are worn by many famous celebrities including Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson, and the company is known for supporting numerous philanthropic events and charities," continued Gardner.

Signature Eyewear is experiencing significant growth in the sunwear market. The Michael Stars collection will further expand Signature's presence in the contemporary eyewear market and give Signature the opportunity to develop an exciting seasonal color palate for its eyewear collection. Additionally, Signature Eyewear has been focused on partnering with recognized American brands making Michael Stars the perfect addition to the Signature portfolio.

Michael Stars eyewear collection will be sold at optical venues and better department and specialty stores.

Signature Eyewear is a leading designer and marketer of prescription eyeglass frames and sunglasses under internationally recognized brand names, including bebe eyes, Cutter & Buck Eyewear, Dakota Smith Eyewear, Hart Schaffner Marx Eyewear, Hummer Eyegear, Laura Ashley Eyewear, Nicole Miller Eyewear and Carmen Marc Valvo Eyewear, which was introduced in May 2008.
