Givenchy launches F/W 2008 women's accessories collection

Luxury brand Givenchy has recently launched its Fall/Winter 2008 women's accessories collection. Designed by Riccardo Tisci, the collection is receiving rave reviews across the globe for its romantic and sensuous elegance.

The main colour of the season is gold. Pale gold multi-chain and rosary necklaces with crystal and Bohème pearls swing from models' necks over images of the Madonna. Give or take a gold leather bubble dress and a slightly dubious revival of stretch pants, this collection finally shifted Tisci out of the 'promising' category into a place where he deserves to be seen as a designer who has come of age.

Meanwhile, adding luxury to the collection are the belts with hexagonal crystals, hand-carved, in jet, absinthe, clear and taupe. Their outsize scale is a modern update of the old fashioned charm of diamonds.

Underpinning the silhouettes, achieving Riccardo Tisci's vision for Givenchy are sculptural shoes, which work as pure blocks of colour. The season's emblematic bag, Melancholia, in black spazzolato leather or lace, best reflects the spirit of the collection: confidence with a feminine and romantic touch. Givenchy accessories are available at select Rodeo Drive outlets in the UAE.
