LA Fashion District hosts 'Downtown at Dusk'

In celebration of Los Angeles Downtown Fashion, on October 17, 2008 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, The LA Fashion District along with REVEAL Los Angeles…The Fashion & Design Event, The California Market Center, The Cooper Design Space, The Gerry Building, The New Mart, and media partner, Los Angeles magazine, will host, “Downtown at Dusk - An Evening of Downtown Fashion,” to begin the Los Angeles Fashion Market.

Buyers, press, designers, celebrities, tastemakers and industry insiders will be welcomed into the "Marquee" Tent on the Front Patio of the California Market Center to an invitation- only fashion presentation event, showcasing some of the top contemporary designers housed in showrooms throughout the buildings of the Downtown LA Fashion District.

Spring '09 collections from various designers including Amanda Uprichard, BCBG, Betsy Johnson, Cynthia Steffe, Madison Marcus, Nanette Lepore, Poleci, Robert Rodriguez, Suh-Than, Vivienne Westwood, Walter, Ya-Ya and more will be on display, featured on both live models as well as mannequin installations.

Mayor Villaraigosa is scheduled to attend and will officially “open” the Spring 2009 Los Angeles Fashion Market. He is expected to speak about the significance of the thriving Los Angeles Fashion Industry and its impact on the City of Los Angeles.

Additionally, Mary Dolaher, Chief Executive Officer of IDG World Expo, parent company of REVEAL Los Angeles…The Fashion & Design Event, will address the timeliness and relevance of REVEAL Los Angeles as well as provide additional background on the expertise of IDG World Expo, leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events around the globe.

In addition to the beautiful fashion, the visit by Mayor Villaraigosa, and the interesting announcements regarding REVEAL Los Angeles, - “Downtown at Dusk” will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, exquisite décor, and live music for an anticipated 350-500 guests.

From designers and showrooms, to real estate owners and city officials, to publicists, press, and event organizers, “Downtown at Dusk” is a true collaboration between influencers in the Downtown Los Angeles fashion industry and is sure to be an unprecedented showcase of the quality of fashion represented within the LA Fashion District, as well as an indication of what to expect in coming seasons.

“Downtown at Dusk” will take place October 17, 2008 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the California Market Center, Front Patio “Marquee” Tent, 110 E. 9th St, Los Angeles, CA 90079.
