Nikon to showcase fashion with Raghavendra Rathore S/S collection for LFW

Nikon fashion preview scheduled prior to the Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2009 is a manifestation of the involvement of photographic equipment manufacturer, Nikon with one of the famous, avant-garde fashion designers of, Raghavendra Rathore.
”The wedlock of photography and fashion dates way back in history and I believe both are incomplete without each other.., The designs have been inspired by the Nikon mood and I feel that it complements well with the very outdoor look that we have given to the collection.” Reflects Raghavendra Rathore
Noteworthy is the concept that the designs showcased a conceptual relevance to a lifestyle and is reflective of masculinity in men's' dressing. In this collection, the 50s has been revisited bringing back all that was vividly associated with the macho icon.
The essence of the look remains instantly evocative of a mythical 'Outdoor Country' man with a slick sense of nocturnal style. The fishing apparel and the photographer vest are also important inspirations in the over all look.
Mr Hidehiko Tanaka, Managing Director, Nikon India said, “We are delighted to be participating in the Raghavendra Rathore's preview of men's fashion leading up to the Lakme Fashion Week. The outdoor man is the epitome of Nikon's focus as his casual style complemented by a Nikon camera is the image that we want to create. All men who love the outdoors and the wonders of nature, will understand and appreciate the synergy between the smart, casual look and photography.”
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Raghavendra Rathore commented on the theme of the exhibition with the following words, “There is a reassuring amount of personality in each silhouette which is carefully tailored to complement an energetic toughness and slickness in dressing.
In keeping with the designer's stated intention of producing discreet luxury, the array of designs has been carefully represented to evoke a stylish yet classic feel. My association with NIKON would allow me to design for them….again something which would be a delight to your eyes like always. I am sure that this association will grow to be a success.
The fashion extravaganza will be the first of Nikon's many initiatives aimed at carving a niche for its cameras in the hearts of every discerning Indian consumer.
