India's 1st ever auction of Gemstone Sculptures is scheduled for the 22nd of October, 2008 in Mumbai.
Ma Passion along with the brand ambassador Ms. Nisha JamVwal, a renowned designer, author, art consultant and craft activist, often associated with noble cause of promoting art and the artisans behind these exquisite works, are hosting India's first ever gemstone auction in Mumbai. Ms. Nisha JamVwal, will be in Mumbai on October 17, 2008 wherein she will address the media on the upcoming auction with an exclusive preview for the Mumbai Media.
The objective behind this auction is to provide a helping hand to the dying art of gemstone carving in India. Ms. Nisha JamVwal along with Mr. Dinesh Poddar, Managing Director, has taken up the cause to protect and preserve the Jaipur artists, specially the Kumawat community who are well known in the arena of gemstone carving for their expertise.
If not protected and nurtured, this craft is in fear of extinction, and the next generation will not enjoy the treasures so famed in our country.
The enchanting range of Ma Passion sculptures which will be displayed at Mumbai Press preview displays the fine skills of Ma Passion's artisans who use simple tools and complete devotion to create masterpieces from rare precious and semi-precious stones like Rubies, Emeralds, Rose Quartz, Aventurine, Crystal etc which are handpicked from quarries and mines across the globe that enhance the beauty of your home.
Some of the pieces on the display will be Emerald Ganesha of 3650 carat carved With Shivji, Parvatiji, Lakshmiji & Vishnuji on all sides which is also called as 3600 carving, Entire Ram Darbar in Tourmaline weighing 830 carats, Radha Krishna in Blue Sapphire weighing 1870 carats, a Rose Quartz Buddha with Jali work in a mandir concept, Standing Buddha in light Green Aventurine weighing 103000 Grams among other equally exquisite pieces.
