Da Thao to represent at 'Intl Young Fashion Entrepreneur' show

A young fashion designer Ho Tran Da Thao, will represent the country in the 'International Young Fashion Entrepreneur 2008-09' competition, organised by the British Council in UK in February. Da Thao had earlier won the first prize of US$ 7,000 at the national level to find the contest to represent Vietnam at the UK competition.

In the competition in UK, she is expected to compete with other designers from nine different countries to stake claim to the first prize amounting to £7,500. It will also provide her prospects to meet and learn from contestants of other countries.

To get a chance to represent Vietnam at the competition, Da Thao had to deliver a 20 minute presentation containing written and visuals about her work. She also had to face and overcome six other contestants.

The Judges included the British Council Director Alison Ball and other well known people connected to fashion industry from Vietnam. Da Thao is a Bachelor of Arts graduate and also has a level-3 certificate in fashion design. She used to formerly work at Ninomaxx as Chief Designer, but now owns a fashion company by the name of International Lifestyle Co. Ltd founded in 2008.

She has earlier won the Mercedes Benz Asia Fashion Award in 2004 and also a won scholarship of $ 10,000 given by Raffles LaSalle Institute, Singapore.
