Pearl Academy students present innovative activity at Utsav 08

Pearl Academy of Fashion, country's leading fashion institute today hosted its annual Intra-collegiate festival – Pearl Utsav '08. Depicting 'Fashion' through well knit sequences of drama, dances and music, the students presented a harmonious blend of innovative artistic activity. Chief Guest, veteran classical danseuse Smt. Yamini Krishnamurthy graced the occasion with her valuable presence to encourage the students.

With zest and enthusiasm many colleges participated in various inter-college competitions. The highlight of the day was Creative Writing, the Junk Lab, Face Painting, Canvas Painting, and Laugh at me to name a few.

The creations of the students were showcased through dance depicting eras from the world of film music, leaving the audience mesmerized.

To get the perfect look for the event the students got one of the oldest telephone instruments for the song “Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon”; they dipped their shoes in fevicol & sparkle to give Rishi Kapoor's looks. Not only Indian Cinema, students also depicted John Travolta look with side burns and big collars.

The show presented by the students transported everyone involved into another realm altogether. The unique show saw a glimpse of Devika Rani of 50s, Vijayanti Mala of 60s, Mumtaz & Kajal Kiran in 70's, Angry young man – Amitabh Bachchan of 80s and Raveena, Karisma, Govinda & Shah Rukh of today's time.

The much awaited face painting competition gave a platform to the students of the Fashion & Media Make up programme & the newly launched Fashion Styling & Image Design course to come together to give all the looks to their fellow colleagues on stage. Right from costumes, make up, props were stylized by PAF students.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Yamini Krishnamurthy said, “The show was an aesthetic mix of creativity and passion and the sense of music and imagination of these Pearl students is amazing.

Pearl Utsav is a platform that undoubtedly gives them exposure and bright prospects for their future and I am enthralled with the students' performances and would like to congratulate the academy for putting up such a wonderful show”.
