Digvijay's Morning Mandi offers classic fusion fashion statements

The fabrics were just ideal for Spring/Summer 2009 – high quality pure cotton that will make men's wear a delight to possess.
Digvijay Singh's collection at Lakme Fashion Week for the coming season called "Morning Mandi" was a stylish blend of the east and west where the designer gave classic traditional men's garments a modern touch.
The cuts and fits were lean and structured, drawn from the rustic regions of India like Gujarat and Rajasthan. Kurtas, shirts, tunics, churidars and pants had the most discreet detailing that required a very high standard of tailoring to achieve the fineness in the garments.
Opening the show with a pure white kurta worn over a tiny bundi; Digvijay teamed it with churidars. Then he moved on to skinny pants with large external flap pockets and a stylish drawstring waist kurta. The churidars had gathers at the knees instead of the ankles – an interesting innovation by Digvijay.
Adding a little colour to the neutral palette, he patched the trousers with contrast beige. Hoodies were a great addition in pale olive with tiny orange piping while the cross over rustic tunics with wrap around tie-ups was a comfortable idea for Spring/Summer 2009.
Asymmetric plackets were piped in white on black for tunics and a traditional Rajasthan shirt with drawstring at the waist was turned into a hoodie. A slightly formal touch was given to a black multi slit knee length cotton wrap worn over a bundi. All detailing was tonal except when there was edging to add a dash of colour.
