The all men's wear collection (with just four garments for women) from Kunal Rawal was a high energy foot stomping collection for Spring/Summer2009 at Lakme Fashion Week.
Called the "Expedition" the collection was aimed at the male who enjoys the great outdoors with sports that have a lot of excitement and adventure to excite his senses.
The colours were obviously very masculine – khaki, beige, brown, black, white with touches of leaf green and maybe a bit of orange; along with some wild checks.
The silhouettes were lean with the safari shirt and jacket being popular, skin tight pants and jeans, shirts with lots of patched and flapped pockets, military trousers, cropped pants, cargoes, croc pants, and shorts which were all high energy gear.
Fabrics were cottons, linen and techno treated with lots of sheen and attitude. Kunal merged in a few Indian embellishments like touches of the Jodhpuri pants for the trousers and jackets as well as the bandhgala silhouette.
Embroidery and military motifs were noticeable on some of the shirts, trousers and jackets. A giant sequined tiger's face at the back of a shirt was rather funky.
Drawstrings appeared for the waist while buttons were either useful, or just for show. Women's wear followed the expedition theme with the masculine colours and styles.
The showstopper was just perfect. It was ever green actor, Anil Kapoor at his feisty best who strode down the ramp in khaki military fatigues and two stars on his epaulets.
The actor brought the house down with the audience applauding wildly as the star quality of Anil Kapoor took over on the catwalk.
Kunal Rawal's fashion "Expedition" was very successful on all fronts with both sexes wanting more of it even after the show ended.
