WLC College honours alumni with 'Best Achievers Award'

They say that college time is the best part of your life, filled with unforgettable memories and fun. This seemed absolutely true for alumnus of WLC College who met on Saturday, 6th Dec at WLC's campus for the annual WLCI's Alumni Meet-2008. Erstwhile students of WLC College who have now bloomed into professionals and entrepreneurs attended the gathering.

The alumni were delighted to meet their old batch mates and were elated to see their alma mater evolve into a world-class professional education institute. They also got to interact with their erstwhile faculty, present at the event.

The alumni were felicitated by Mr. Vinay Pasricha, Chairman, WLCI and Ms. Malobika Sengupta, CEO, WLC College India at the special function held at the venue to honour the students with 'WLC Best Achievers Award' in the various categories - Business, Media and Advertising & Graphic Design. These awards are presented every year to alumni who have achieved remarkable professional success within a short span of time.

The winners of the awards were declared as: Ms. Anushree Raveendran (Business, 2005 Batch), Mr. Ankur Garg (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2005 batch) and Mr. Vineesh Edakkara (Media, 2007 Batch)

WLCI Best Achiever's Award in Business-
Ms. Anushree Raveendran, WLC Business, 2005 Batch is presently working as the Manager Operations of Cineworld Cinemas, UK. She was awarded 'Excellence in work' for her work on projects like IIFA 2007, Bite the Mango Festival 2006 and other similar projects. She has also won recognitions on her performance at Max New York Life Insurance. Few of these being 'Rising Star', 'Ten a monther', 'Case rate trophy' amongst many others.

WLCI Achiever's Award in Advertising & Graphic Design-
Mr. Ankur Garg (Advertising & Graphic Design, 2005 Batch is presently working at JWT as an Art Director. While still at college he won the Maneka Gandhi Award for a social campaign. He was awarded the Icongo-Karamveer Puruskar for Social Justice 2007 for an ad campaign, which was also ranked 23rd amongst the best 50 ads internationally. While at JWT he has worked for brands like Timex, Taco Bell, Monte Carlo, Hero Honda and ESPN Star Sports.

WLCI Achiever's Award in Media -
Mr. Vineesh Edakkara (Media, 2007 Batch). Vineesh has made several documentaries on burning issues and specialized in Editing. He topped the FCP certification programme of Apple Inc US, while still studying in Wigan UK. Vineesh joined NDTV as an Asst Producer and went on to become a Producer for their top shows - Gadget Guru and Picture Perfect. He is now the Segment Producer for the Most Talked Men's Lifestyle Show on NDTV. All this in a span of just 15 months!!

The event ended on a sombre note as all present at the venue observed a moment of silence with lit candles to pay homage to the brave men from our Armed Forces, Police and the NSG who gave up their lives in Mumbai to defend Us, the citizens of India. Finally, the area reverberated with echoes of 'Vande Mataram' as everyone raised their voices in unison to pay tribute to the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks.
