Born in Tel Aviv, Israeli Karin Feller, 21 years old, won on December 10, the first edition of the Projeto Ponto Zero (Point Zero Project). Student of the fourth and last year of the Fashion Design course at Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Karin presented a collection inspired on the fractals, theory of chaos and luck on the last night of the 24th Casa de Criadores, at Frei Caneca Mall. Besides Karin, Ivano de Paula Silva (Belas Artes), Talita Pinzan (Anhembi Morumbi) and Mariana Carbonell (Senac) participated in the contest.

With the result, the fashion student from Santa Marcelina will integrate the House's new talents casting, as part of the LAB Project; and, to top it off, will get a fashion show at the Mercado Mundo Mix in Portugal programmed for May 2009. Like Karin, the other competitors will be awarded with participation at the Ponto Zero (Point Zero) stand in one more edition of the Mercado Mundo Mix in São Paulo — the finalist debut was on December 6 and 7.

“We are very happy with the project, since it is the first time that the industry entities and events with tradition in the market join together in an initiative aimed towards fashion colleges and courses, where names with great technical and creative potential come from”, opines André Hidalgo, general director of the Casa de Criadores, which celebrates the opening of a space for students at the event.

On the jury were stylists Jum Nakao and Rita Wainer, journalists Lula Rodrigues, Erika Palomino and Lilian Pacce and businessmen Alberto Hiar, Fábio Cunha and Cacá Ribeiro.

Idealized by ABIT – Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association, by the Textile Industry of the State of São Paulo (Sinditêxtil-SP) and by the events Casa de Criadores and Mercado Mundo Mix, the Ponto Zero (Point Zero) has support from Texbrasil, Textile Chain Strategic Program, created by ABIT in partnership with APEX-Brasil, Brazilian Export and Import Promotion Agency. Launched at the 23rd edition of the Casa de Criadores, in May 2008, the program has as its focus the discovery of new fashion professionals in the category Entrepreneur Stylist.

“The insertion of new talents is what guarantees liveliness in fashion, making it possible to launch new products. Nevertheless, it is essential to prepare these professionals for the challenge of managing their brands. This is what we will do for a month, because it's not enough to have will and creativity without knowledge and information about the fashion business and the mechanisms of the internal and external market”, says Rafael Cervone, director of the Texbrasil program.

The project's continuity is up to the Mercado Mundo Mix Portugal organization, which has already confirmed the participation of the 1st contestant from the Ponto Zero (Point Zero), along with five stylists from the Casa, in the European edition of the event. The forecast is that, besides exposing their projects at a stand, the six Brazilians also do a fashion show of their creations for the Portuguese.
