Giambattista Valli is going to be the special guest at the third edition of Pitti W_Woman Precollection, the Pitti Immagine project dedicated to women's fashion pre-collections. On the evening of Thursday, 15 January, the extraordinary Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio will be the setting for an elegant, exclusive event stage for the preview showing of his 2009-2010 fall/winter pre-collection.

“Pitti Immagine and Florence”, - says Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine, - “warmly welcome Giambattista Valli, one of the great Italian talents in contemporary fashion who is known in Italy and around the world. We are happy that Giambattista has chosen the Florence fashion week and Pitti W for his first Italian showing that will be featured in one of the city's most outstanding – and exclusive – venues, the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio”.

This is going to be an important event for the city and for the Pitti Immagine shows which have once again been selected by the best brands to launch world-scale projects and by the big names in contemporary fashion for their special events.

Born in 1966 in Rome, Giambattista Valli has been signing his collections since 2005, and usually shows them in Paris where he lives and works. He studied at the European Design Institute in his city and then took an illustration course at the Saint Martin's School of Art in London. From 1988 to 1990 he worked in Roberto Capucci's atelier. In 1990 he went to Fendi and then to Krizia in 1995 and finally, to Emanuel Ungaro in Paris in 1997. Today, the press and buyers from all over the world acclaim his collections on the Paris runways and his clothes are always on the red carpets on Hollywood, Cannes and Venice.

His look is a continuous reference to the classics, with citations from the great nonconformists, Elsa Schiaparelli and Walter Albini, and Capucci, for colors and sensational shapes. He explores shape and structure with a body-artist's approach to make sculpted, structured yet lightweight couture creations, and explores futuristic silhouettes with shocking colors mixing precious materials and tech fabrics.
