Truong Anh Vu, the renowned designer of Vietnam is all set to showcase his creations at the Japan Fashion Week International Fashion Fair in Tokyo on January 14.
With this Vu will be the first Vietnamese designer ever to participate in one of the region's leading fashion weeks.
The event to be held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre will present nearly 65 collections of designers from Asian region's including Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
Truong Anh Vu used silk and tho cam (brocade) of Mong people in Sa Pa district, north-western Lao Cai province for his collection. Tho cam (brocade), is a traditional pattern of hand-made fabric popular with many ethnic groups, is at the top of the list of many foreign buyers.
Vu says that introduction of this traditional cloth in this event would attract global attention towards Vietnamese people especially the Mong.
