Northern Virginia Fashion Week to debut in February

DEMOU'R Incorporated, a Northern Virginia based event planning and marketing firm, announces the creation of the first Northern Virginia Fashion Week Fall 2009 to debut February 2009. The first NOVA Fashion Week will present Fall 2009 fashions featuring student, local, regional, national and luxury designers from around the globe in a week long array of events.
"We discovered, while working on a similar fashion week project, [that] Northern Virginia has its own entity, its own demographic and its own cultural basis to create a fashion week that can become over the years a platform to relate to nationally recognized," says Andrew Roby, CEO of DEMOU'R Inc.
The DEMOU'R team will create a Fashion Week filled with highlights of fashion combining a student fashion competition, local and regional designers, a two day designer fashion showcase and one day for luxury designer fashion showcase. Each of the designer fashion showcase events will accompany shopping where patrons, ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase items found from the Fall 2009 runway before available in stores.
"Though we realize that many Northern Virginia residents experience other fashion weeks, however, we are not interested in competing for space on that platform; but moreover creating an opportunity for NOVA to be its own entity, representing its own fashion week.
Our mission is different and creates opportunities for the fashion industry and its participants. We have no doubt, based on our agenda and platform that the local community, businesses, governments and the marketplace will embrace the opportunity to be involved as either sponsors, stakeholders and participants in this year's first NOVA Fashion Week event," Roby adds.
DEMOU'R Incorporated will release venue and times to the media in late September, early October for all of its scheduled events. Media credentials will be granted to registered magazines and publications in the local DC Metro Area and student discounted tickets will be offered.
Some scheduled events are open to the general public, while some events are invitation only, press and media related events only. Northern Virginia Fashion Week's website will go live September 4, 2008 with updated details of events, information for designers, contributors, sponsorship and retail information.
