Fila announced that it has signed an endorsement agreement with Sony Ericsson WTA Tour star Anna Chakvetadze. The agreement with Chakvetadze is part of Fila's on-going commitment to tennis as a core category and continues the company's legacy of sponsoring elite tennis champions.

"We are thrilled to have Anna as a part of the Fila family," said Gene Yoon, Chairman of Fila. "She is a proven champion whose drive, athleticism and style are consistent with Fila's core values. Fila has a great heritage in tennis and we are pleased to have Anna wear our brand, which has been worn by champions in tennis and other sports for over 35 years."

Chakvetadze, 21, ended 2008 with a WTA Tour ranking of 18, which was her third Top 20 year in a row. She won her seventh career Tour singles title in Paris and had a runner-up finish in New Haven. In late 2007, Chakvetadze achieved a career high world ranking of number 5. She is known across the Tour as a tenacious player with a great double-handed backhand.

Fila has a long and distinguished history in the world of tennis. The company has endorsement agreements with several ATP Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour athletes, is a major sponsor of the Sony Ericsson Open, Tennis Tournament at Indian Wells, and the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships and is the footwear licensee with The Championships at Wimbledon.

Anna will debut Fila's Baseline Apparel Collection and the Fila Alfa shoe at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Established in Italy in 1911, Fila is a leading manufacturer of sport and leisure footwear and apparel distributed worldwide. The internationally respected company, having gained world class recognition in tennis apparel, has developed brand recognition by marketing products with a high design and style content that are endorsed by professional artists and athletes from around the world.
