Aussie designer to debut fresh collection of hand-painted silk fashions

Australian fashion designer Linda Ellis, creator of the Almond Tree label, will show her latest fashion collection at Couture Fashion Week on Saturday 14 February 2009 at 8:30 p.m. at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
Ms. Ellis's unique designs and color palettes are inspired by the West Australian land, sea and skyscapes. Her affection for the land of the Pilbara desert and the cerulean ocean of Broome finds form in her signature hand painted silk fabrics in rich textured and colorful prints.
Linda Ellis's love of fashion took root in 1975 during a trip throughout Australia with her parents following a devastating flood on the family's farm. She went on to study fashion at Swan Tafe in Perth, and drew further inspiration from her time working in the almond tree groves on a California farm. Subsequent and diverse experiences in geology, sheep shearing, ranching and farming enriched her life's vision and sharpened her creative focus.
Since the launch of her Almond Tree label, Linda Ellis has passionately worked on her popular resort and womenswear collections. The talented designer has a sincere desire to see women return to the truth in themselves as women, expressed through what they wear. Caftans give women of any age and size the opportunity to be truly feminine.
