Mada van Gaans to design six dresses for Just B

The Netherlands experiencing a renaissance of new fashion talent. Until now, designers have been fortunate enough to enjoy the benefits of competition prizes to invest in their own creativity. Fashion prizes are wonderful but there must be something more original, substantial, and tangible to do with the rising fresh fashion talent in The Netherlands.
After all, we see little or nothing of all that Dutch talent in the shops in Milan, Tokyo and New York. What is to be done about that? While we were walking around the Red Light Fashion District a new idea was born...
Just B. is going to coach talented young designers for half a year, so that they have a chance to experience the process a fashion collection goes through from a to zed – from the first brainstorming sessions and discussing the concept to the selection of the fabrics and the delivery of the products.
Young designers are full of creativity, but they are still hungry for experience with planning, buying, finances, logistics and production. “A designer who wants to develop his or her own label, as I want to, runs into so many stumbling blocks,” says Mada van Gaans. “As an intern at some firm you sit in one department, but here I come in contact with every department, with each link in the chain, and that is a unique experience.”
Van Gaans has already made her mark, with numerous nominations for prizes and participation in international exhibitions as well as fashion weeks in the bag. Though Van Gaans currently operates her own business and sells her designs to several high-end boutiques, she didn't hesitate for a second about accepting the offer from Just B.
At present she has been involved with our business for just over a month, and we can already say that the coaching has proven highly satisfactory to both parties. As a bonus she is designing six dresses for Just B.: Mada van Gaans for Just B.
