Design Attack with Queen Alpin to celebrate 10th anniversary next week

The design of the area is a compelling combination of mountain panoramas and British metropolitan flair. 100 national and international young designers will be presented here with truly unique collections.

Jeftha de Vries of Dutch Delight exhibited for the first time at the “Cool as Ice” edition in March 2005 and is entirely convinced of the concept. With its Dutch bag brand Leontine Hagoort he has made his way up to the prime area “white cubes” in the meantime where he now serves top-notch buyers. “We took part from the very beginning and whenever we have a new label to launch we return to Design Attack. Apart from that, it's an excellent training ground for young designers. They first have to understand how the market works. It's key to come with products that are progressive and have potential. Then you have a high chance of getting orders from Prange in Meerbusch or Glam in Zurich.”

Jürgen Zienterra, General Manager of Bugs, also had very positive experiences with Design Attack: “ Design Attack has always been great fun and the atmosphere is simply fantastic! For us it has always been a superb platform to introduce young labels from the shoe and textile world. This has always worked extremely well for us. Then we reached the point where our brands “outgrew” Design Attack. For a big brand pitch you need a custom-built stand.” Today, the brands Lise Lindvig, Grotesque and Adelheid are on display side by side with icon heritage brands in the Urban Authentic area in Hall 1.

For Martijne Baars of Fred de la Bretoniere and Shabbies Amsterdam Design Attack was instrumental in boosting the recognition levels of these two brands, both of which are now presented on larger stands in the “white cubes” area. By company accounts the company would have to rent an entire “street” at Design Attack to present its 300 shoe styles. “Fred de la Bretoniere was a household name in Holland back then but entirely new in Germany.

We wanted to see how the brand was received and exhibited it at Design Attack just for fun. Interest was very strong and all important buyers saw us at our stand. Here young, creative designers are given exposure. That's the beauty of Design Attack!” For its 10th anniversary edition Design Attack invites you to a Queen Alpin Party. The new motto will also be echoed by Jiri M.R. Katter and his DJs from the Supernode DJ Collective: familiar melodies and underground sounds along with progressive music trends from the club scene will set the tone for three days (Friday, 13 March 2009 at 6.00 pm, in Hall 3, Design Attack Plaza).
