UNIQLO signs Jil Sander as clothing design consultant

FAST RETAILING CO LTD has entered into a design consulting agreement between UNIQLO and a consultancy firm owned and represented by the designer Jil Sander. UNIQLO is the fast growing, globally expanding casual wear retail chain owned and developed by FAST RETAILING.
According to the agreement, Ms Sander will involve herself personally in all aspects of the design and making of the UNIQLO men's and women's wear products for global retail, and when the opportunity arises, the development of a stand-alone UNIQLO collection.
UNIQLO will be able to offer a global collection inspired by the cooperation with Ms Sander from the Autumn / Winter 2009 season onwards.
FAST RETAILING has the highest regard for Ms Sander's skills as a designer and creator of clothes. Her ability to design and create pure, simple silhouettes that shed unnecessary excess, her stringent material selection, exquisite tailoring and use of materials are unique features that have a strong affinity with UNIQLO's 'fashion basic' orientation to date.
We are delighted to announce this innate affinity and are looking forward to a creative future cultivated jointly by UNIQLO and Ms Sander, which will create considerable benefits, greatly enhance and promote even higher quality UNIQLO garments.
