RG Barry to design Levi's accessories footwear

The Levi's brand – the name behind the invention of the blue jean – announced today it has signed a licensing agreement with accessories footwear marketer R.G. Barry Corporation to develop and market its collection of slippers and sandals for the United States region. The assortment will include footwear styles for men, women and children, offering Levi's-branded options for every member of the family. The debut assortment of Levi's slippers will arrive in stores nationwide for the fall 2009 season, with the Levi's sandals selection to follow in spring 2010.
“We believe there is a great opportunity for a stylish, more youthful assortment of accessory footwear that carries the trusted Levi's brand name,” said Maryann Nichols, Vice President of Licensing for the Levi's brand. “We selected R.G. Barry as our latest licensing partner based on their proven track record and reputation for superior quality, innovation and unique design – qualities which are paramount to the Levi's brand.”
Greg Tunney, R.G. Barry Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer added, “Partnering with one of the most-recognized brands in the world is incredibly exciting for us. We think the blend of our category-leading expertise in accessories footwear design, development and sourcing and Levi's global brand power will be a winning combination. Bua to Head Footwear Line
As part of their agreement with the Levi's brand, R.G. Barry has named veteran sales and marketing executive, Jeffrey P. Bua, Brand President for the new footwear line. Most recently Senior Vice President of Sports Casual International, a performance development firm, Bua offers extensive senior level experience with a range of companies, including Reebok International, AVIA Group International and UMBRO International. He is a graduate of Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA.
