It was a medley of browns and oranges with a touch of dull jade for stiff wool or sheer chiffon which was given the most amazing surface treatments to turn them into show stopping garments.
Rimzim Dadu for her label My Village proved that she can turn solid fabrics into textured marvels. For her Fall/Winter 2009 collection at Lakme Fashion Week the layers and fabric manipulation was of a very high standard making each ensemble the highlight of the show.
Starting with a cutwork brown mini, Rimzim brought in a checked wool cutaway shoulder dress, then added on a 3D cutwork dress in and then followed it with another grayish trapeze quilted cutwork strappy garment. An acid green draped chiffon ensemble moved into the formal evening section.
Pleating came in for silks where a maroon cross over strappy dress was interesting and intricately designed. While one in moss green was an elegant creation. A cutwork grey smock, an orange cocoon textured dress, a diagonal panelled figure hugging mini and an orange basket weave mini, followed the look of the collection but with subtle changes in the detailing.
The solitary sari in beige with an ornate border was teamed with an unconventional shirt collar choli.
For creations that can be the talk of the evening Rimzim Dadu's Fall/Winter line will be the perfect topic for the coming season.
