Launch of Biggest Loot store at Metro Junction, Kalyan

Kalyan, the emerging hot-spot for retail has just added another feather to its cap. The Loot, one of India's largest multi-brand retail chains with 96 stores across India, has opened its biggest store at Metro Junction, near Kalyan Station.
This mammoth store is spread across 20,000 (twenty thousand) sq ft and is the largest single level retail store of its kind in India.
An excited and beaming Jay Gupta, the 33-year young M.D. of The Loot said “In the last week of January '09, when the Loot opened its doors as part of a Test Launch, over 14,000 consumers from Kalyan and neighboring districts visited the store in a single day, creating a record turnout. Our research showed that the Kalyanite is a highly discerning customer who seeks value for money, which fact was borne out by the crowd that day”.
Interestingly, the research done by the Loot threw up a few interesting findings about Kalyan including
• Kalyan has a minimum consumer population of about 1.5 million who are currently having only restricted access to world-class shopping.
• The Loot targets 40% of the population who fall in the category of 12-35 yrs of age.
The Loots catchment will also cater to people from the neighbouring areas of Ulhasnagar, Dombivali, Ambarnath, Titwala, Vithalwadi and Badlapur.
The Kalyanite is…,
• reasonably affluent and with disposable income to spend
• discerning buyer and seek high value for money
• fashion conscious
• up-to-date in style and trendy
• Highly aware of brands
This year has seen the Loot grow in size to over 96 stores and it will soon reach the 100-mark. “Our discount store format is not just recession-proof, but actually recession friendly”, said Jay Gupta. “It is at times like these that the customer is looking for that extra value for money and the Loot offers this throughout the year. I am very optimistic about Kalyan as it is a very happening and exciting market and hope to open a few more outlets here in the coming year”, he added.
With the Loot announcing its presence here, Kalyan is truly on its way to becoming the emerging hot-spot for retailing in India.
