Talbots announces Senior Executive appointment

The Talbots Inc announced that it has named Benedetta Casamento Executive Vice President of Finance. In this newly created position, Ms. Casamento will play a pivotal role in Talbots overall business operations while adding further skill and talent to the Company's experienced finance team. Effective immediately, Ms. Casamento will report directly to Talbots Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Michael Scarpa.
"Benedetta is a seasoned finance veteran with significant expertise in the women's specialty apparel sector with a strong track record of driving successful business results," said Mr. Scarpa. "Her broad organizational vision and operational experience in directing complex turnaround strategies will be an invaluable asset as we continue to execute against our strategic plan and make progress in improving the Company's overall operational and financial performance."
Ms. Casamento, 42, brings more than 20 years of retail industry experience to Talbots. She joins Talbots after spending nine years at Liz Claiborne, Inc. in various leadership positions. Most recently, Ms. Casamento was President of Liz Claiborne, Claiborne and Monet brands where she was responsible for all aspects of brand management worldwide and implemented several key turnaround strategies including organizational restructuring and cost reduction programs to strengthen and revitalize the business.
She had previously served as President, Ellen Tracy and Dana Buchman brands at Liz Claiborne. She joined Liz in 1999 as Vice President and Group Financial Director of its Retail & International Group, and became Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis in 2000. She started her career at Saks Fifth Avenue where she held roles of increasing responsibility in accounting and finance, including Controller of OFF 5th, Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet and the Folio catalog division.
Ms. Casamento holds a degree in Finance from Fordham University. She currently resides in New York metro area and will split her time between Talbots New York and Hingham offices.
