This May during Melanoma Month Coolibar will announce the winners of their 2009 School Sun Hat Contest. Five winners will be chosen at random to win up to 50 hats for their classroom. The contest promotes the SunAWARE acronym to teach simple steps to prevent and detect skin cancers.

"Preventative sun safety habits begin in childhood and the classroom is a great place to reinforce those behaviors. We wanted to make our children's school hats available to classrooms that may not have the resources. The contest was a perfect solution," said Coolibar President and CEO John Barrow.

The contest is open to students, parents, teachers and supporters. "What a great program for kids and schools! Sun protection is so important here in Texas. I forwarded to my kids' school so they could forward to the parents. I also sent it to everyone I know with kids," said a father from Texas.

Contest entries will be accepted until May 1, 2009. The winners will be announced on May 14th. To enter, download and return completed School Sun Hat Contest Entry Form.

Coolibar: Head of the Class
Children's sun protection hats are an excellent way to protect vulnerable young skin, from ears to chin. Coolibar has specially designed a small number of hats that are offered to not-for-profit organizations, such as schools and PTAs, at a significant discount, including a UPF 50+ bucket-style hat with a chinstrap.

Coolibar also provides adult hats to schools at half the regular price, helping teachers and parents model healthy sun-protective behavior. All of Coolibar's sun hats sport a generous brim, providing optimal protection during recess and gym. Additionally, Coolibar has made gallon pump size sunscreen for complete protection available for school settings.

Coolibar was founded in 2001 to bring Australia's world-leading approaches to sun protection to the American market. The company has extensively redesigned Australian sun protective clothing styles to meet the tastes and needs of fashion- and health-conscious Americans.
