Soles4Souls named Official Charity of Shoes & Champagne

Soles4Souls Inc, the international shoe charity, has been named the "official charity" of the International Shoes & Champagne Gala, a shoe design benefit. The reception will be held on May 8, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at the Historic Union Station, opposite the Chateau Laurier, 2 Rideau Street, Ottawa, CA. "We are very proud to be the official charity of the 2009 Canadian Tulip Festival," said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. "The International Shoes & Champagne Gala is a wonderful event that allows people to become directly involved with our programs while also providing attendees the chance to celebrate in style," he said.
"We are delighted to support Soles4Souls, and we want to applaud the footwear designers who are working with us," said Caroline Ouimet, Manager of the International Shoes & Champagne event. "Without them, the gala benefit couldn't happen - we are grateful for their support and commitment," she said.
International Shoes & Champagne celebrates the mutual "international language" of design and footwear fashion at this glamorous charity event for Soles4Souls, which collects and distributes footwear to destitute children and their families in more than 125 countries. This exciting event will showcase stunning shoe creations from dozens of top international designers. Special guest Beth Harbison, author of "Shoe Addicts Anonymous" and "Secrets of a Shoe Addict," along with some of the footwear designers, will be in attendance.
On Saturday, May 9th, the International Shoes & Champagne exhibit will open its doors to the public as an added attraction for the thousands of visitors to The Canadian Tulip Festival. The festival has celebrated international arts, culture and ideas in Canada's capital city for more than 50 years, and is attended by hundreds of thousands of Canadian and international visitors.
The Canadian Tulip Festival is a registered charity and one of the important volunteer organizations in the region, drawing on over 1,000 volunteers each spring. Net proceeds of the International Shoes & Champagne will help Soles4Souls send footwear to impoverished children and families overseas.
