Rockefeller to have Sunglass Hut retail concept

Prada and Sunglass Hut re-imagine the modern retail experience by introducing a temporary eyewear concept store in New York's famed Rockefeller Center at an existing Sunglass Hut location. From April 28th through May 5th, the temporary boutique will offer exclusive and special edition Prada sunglasses. After May 5th, the sunglass collection will be available also online at sunglasshut.com.

In addition to the temporary concept store in Rockefeller Center, the Sunglass Hut and Prada partnership extends to other Sunglass Hut retail locations throughout the United States. Nine stores in California, Florida, New York, and Nevada will receive customized store displays; the top 100 Sunglass Hut locations will be outfitted with personalized windows; and 800 stores will feature special front door materials. The collaboration will be promoted through a mini-site at sunglasshut.com and online activities, as well as direct mail.

Prada had the idea of developing a new concept of shopping experience to their customers, a new way of communication to create strong relationships between Prada and customers but also between Prada and strategic partners. Prada was able to implement the idea already in some selected specialty stores in Italy in 2008 and earlier this year. Prada is willing to promote a stronger connection with some key international cities offering a unique and dedicated shopping experience to their final clients.

Sunglass Hut International is the largest sunglass specialty retailer in the world with 1,905 locations in preferred shopping and tourist destinations throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Sunglass Hut International, which includes Watch Station and Watch World stores, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Luxottica Group which is the world leader in design, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of prescription frames and sunglasses.

New York is one of the most important cities in terms of business and in terms of image as well, that's why we decided to launch our first Eyewear Concept store here. "
