New date for MEXA MOSCOW

3 min read

MEXA MOSCOW 2009 has been postponed. The new date for the international fur and fur processing trade show is October 21 through 23, 2009.

The international financial crisis has also affected Russia and the fur industry. Fur dealers are currently having a difficult time obtaining credit. This delays the acquisition of fur products until the fall when the new sales season begins. Therefore the 18th MEXA MOSCOW is being postponed until October in order to assure good sales and successful business transactions for international fur dealers.

Accessories and fur processing equipment:
Russian manufacturers prefer to order in Russia
Russian fur product manufacturers produce goods valued at EUR 1.5 to 2 billion per year. In order to continue expanding their production capacity, many Russian manufacturers are investing in new and used machinery for fur preparation and processing. Machines for the production of fur products, bags, hats and other accessories are in especially high demand.

Discussions with Russian industry experts also indicate that Russian manufacturers are poorly supplied in the chemicals, labelling and dry goods fields (e.g. appliqués, edging, sequins, buttons, closures and lining fabrics). Industry insiders report that Russian manufacturers are also failing to find the goods they require at international fur trade shows. This is why Russian manufacturers are forced to conduct a time-consuming search for suppliers even though Russians traditionally prefer to order in Russia.

Ordering season delayed until the fall this year
Russian dealers will not be attending this year's spring trade shows. This is because Russian dealers do not want to obtain interim financing for goods from January / February until the fall this year as a result of a significant increase in the base rate. However, potential sales are high: Russian dealers buy finished fur products valued at approximately EUR 1.5 billion from foreign manufacturers each year.

This is why MEXA MOSCOW in October is an excellent business opportunity for international suppliers. Thanks to newly initiated cooperation with leading Russian fur manufacturers, international manufacturers can expect additional demand in October. The cold winter this year also improves the business
outlook for the upcoming season.

Highlights of MEXA MOSCOW 2009
The popular shows and presentations at MEXA MOSCOW are also expected to attract numerous buyers. A daily Shapka show with current collections of the 2009 / 2010 season will be held in the exclusive salon for hats and accessories. Shapkas are classic Russian fur hats which are being interpreted by modern fashion trends and sell very well in Russia. International goods are also in high demand in the hats and accessories segment. This is why daily fashion shows are offered at MEXA MOSCOW 2009.
